How The Masjid Atlas treats your data — in plain language.
What we store in your browser
Your language preference. Your name, nickname, and email if you contribute (so you don't retype them next time). A "welcome seen" flag so we don't show the intro twice. A lookup token after your first submission, so only you can see your own pending and approved contributions. That's it. All of this lives in your browser's local storage — it never gets sent to a third party, and you can wipe it any time by clearing site data in your browser settings.
What we never do
- ✗ No advertising — we will never show you ads.
- ✗ No tracking pixels — there are no Facebook, Google, or any third-party trackers on this site.
- ✗ No analytics that profile you — we don't have Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or anything like it.
- ✗ No selling of data — your data is not for sale, and never will be. Selling masjid data or contributor data would be a betrayal of amanah.
- ✗ No data brokers — your email, name, location, and contributions are never shared with third parties for commercial use.
What we DO count — honestly
We count anonymous page-views via Cloudflare Web Analytics — so we know if 5 people or 5,000 came today. No cookies. No fingerprints. No user IDs. No way for us — or Cloudflare — to know which visits belonged to the same person. We also use Sentry to silently catch error messages when the site breaks, so we can fix it; Sentry receives the error and stack trace, never your email or location. Both are switched off when the site is on your local machine for development. If either of these ever sees a single bit of personally-identifying data, that's a bug — please report it.
Why this matters to us
In Islam, every trust placed in our hands is an amanah — something we are responsible to Allah for. Your data is not "user data" to us. It is a trust. The Masjid Atlas exists to serve the Ummah, not to monetise it. When you submit a masjid, you are giving sadaqa jariya — continuous charity that benefits Muslims worldwide. We will not betray that act by turning it into ad revenue or selling it to anyone. This is not a slogan. This is the operating principle of the platform.
